The Experience

Enjoy the relaxed convivial atmosphere and fine panoramic views that can only be truly appreciated from the unique location aboard our train. The Rother Valley in summer provides some magnificent sunsets and an abundance of wildlife on and along the banks of the River Rother.
Your food order will be taken (or confirmed if booked online) on boarding our diesel observation train (pictured below), which is available at Tenterden Town Station from 6:00pm departing at 6:30pm. During the journey you're able to purchase soft drinks, spirits, local beers and wines from the trolley service provided. Whether booking online or by telephone your menu choice will have been confirmed or taken ready to be delivered freshly cooked to coincide with the train's arrival at Northiam Station. As there are no tables on the diesel observation train your meal is eaten the traditional way - straight out of the paper on your lap! The train continues on to Bodiam and thence to Tenterden, where the train arrives at approximately 9:15pm.

Advance booking is required to join our Heritage DMMU on one of the Wednesday dates listed below for one of our popular FISH & CHIP SUPPERS.

Whilst we shall happily provide every possible assistance to disabled visitors, we regret that due to the historic nature of the train (pictured above) there are no wheelchair facilities available onboard. Please telephone if you require further assistance.
