The Kent and & East Sussex Railway is one of England's premier steam railways and children will love the excitement of riding on a real steam train.
All the trains have been immaculately restored to their former Edwardian and Victorian glory and traditional values still hold strong at the railway. On the platform, the smartly dressed Station Master waves his flag as the train pulls out of the station, whilst on board, the uniformed ticket inspector tips his hat to passengers as he clips their tickets.
As the train gently puffs along the 10 ½ mile line, families can sit back and enjoy the beautiful views of the Wealden Countryside and Rother Valley.
The return journey from Tenterden station to Bodiam station takes 45 minutes but with the special Rover ticket, families have the opportunity to enjoy a whole day out and hop off at each station to enjoy the delights on offer.
Children will love the play park at Tenterden and the irresistible café's selling delicious treats in the high street. A short walk from Bodiam station is the magnificent Bodiam Castle, where imaginations will run wild as children explore the ruins, including the impressive battlements and historic towers.
At Rolvenden station, visitors can hop off and see the busy loco yard from the viewing platform.
The Railway also offers a variety of catering options on board including tea or coffee with a fresh pastry, a cream tea, ploughman's lunch or children's party boxes.
