Press Release 6th December 2010
New Chairman for the Kent & East Sussex Railway
The Kent & East Sussex Railway has today announced that they have appointed a new Chairman to look after both the Kent & East Sussex Railway Company and Colonel Stephens Railway Enterprises Ltd.
Geoff Crouch will take over from Norman Brice who has been Chairman at the railway since his appointment to the post in May 2000. Norman will remain a member of the Board.
Geoff Crouch said "My first duty must be to pay tribute to Norman Brice for the outstanding and significant work he has done for the Kent & East Sussex Railway during his time as Chairman. My task will now be to build on that achievement and take the Railway forward into the next decade. This will not only be in respect of maintaining and developing the hard-won improvements to the K&ESR's financial position but, equally, to encourage and value all members, particularly Volunteers and paid staff, who support and work for our Railway. I also look forward to future developments which, in co-operation with the Rother Valley Railway, will one day see services extended to Robertsbridge thus completing the work started so many years ago by our predecessors."
Geoff Crouch has been a member of the K&ESR Board since October 2005. He has also served as Permanent Way Manager for 10 years and Director for Volunteering for 3 years. As well as taking up the post of Chairman, Geoff will also continue as Director for Volunteering.
Away from the Railway, Geoff runs his own retail businesses in Cranbrook.
