Annual CAMRA Real Ale & Cider Festival - Saturday 16 June

This popular social event takes place between 11:00am and 10:30pm (or until the beer runs out!) and is organised with the Ashford, Folkestone and Romney Marsh Branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. Try a diverse range of some of the finest Ale, Cider and Perry in the exclusive beer tent, or relaxing and listening to an eclectic mix of live music.

The Kent & East Sussex Railway is running an appeal to raise £200,000 to double the capacity of the main carriage maintenance building at Tenterden station. The expansion is needed to provide sufficient high quality trains to operate the current train time table which carries 90,000 passengers annually.

'Kids for a Quid' Half Term Offer at the Kent & East Sussex Railway and the National Trust's Bodiam Castle

The Kent & East Sussex Railway and Bodiam Castle have collaborated on a special promotion to offer great days out for families at affordable prices this half term.

Available between 22 and 25 February 2011, Kids for a Quid offers families the chance to enjoy rides on the Kent & East Sussex Railway for just £1 per child and a free children's 'Sir Edward's Quest' activity in the castle.

K&ESR at BodiamTo take advantage of the offers families need to visit the Railway's website (www.kesr.org.uk) and print off the railway voucher, which allows up to 2 children to travel for only £1 each during half term (22 Feb to 25 Feb) with one full paying adult or senior citizen (£13.50 & £12.50 respectively per ticket) as well as Bodiam Castle's activity voucher, which entitles free child entry into 'Sir Edward's Quest'.

Passengers can board the beautifully restored vintage steam trains at Tenterden Station, which will take them along the 10 ½ mile line to Bodiam station, passing through the Rother Valley.

Bodiam Castle is a short walk from the station and upon arrival families can present their 'Kids for a Quid' train tickets to receive discounted entry into the castle and their printed castle activity voucher, to receive free entry into the children's activity trail 'Sir Edward's Quest' (normally £2 per child).

The historic ruins of Bodiam Castle are the ideal location for the Quest which takes children on a treasure hunt around the castle to find the clues to claim a prize.

'Sir Edward's Quest' is available between 10:30am and 3pm from 22 to 25 February. All train tickets include a return journey to Tenterden station between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

The journey to Bodiam station from Tenterden station takes approximately 45 minutes and there is free parking at Tenterden station.

  • Tenterden and Northiam are situated on the A28 between Ashford and Hastings and both stations have spacious car parks which are free. Please note that there is no parking at Bodiam Station so passengers are advised to park and ride from Tenterden or Northiam
