Press Release 13 August 2011
Combine an Autumn Ramble with a Nostalgic Steam Train Ride
If you fancy blowing the cobwebs away with an autumn ramble before enjoying a steam train ride home, then look no further than the Kent & East Sussex Railway on 15th & 16th October 2011, when there is 25% off single fares throughout the weekend as part of a 'Railtrails' promotion.
'Railtrails' is a unique collection of stunning walks through secluded countryside surrounding Tenterden, Bodiam and Northiam stations. With most trails only being accessible from the railway, this is a great way to combine a historic train journey with a unique walking experience. All walks in the guide come complete with maps.
During the promotional weekend, walkers can benefit from a 25% discount on all single train fares and a free copy of the glossy 'Railtrails' guide book. The guide book features six different walks with trails ranging from 2 ½ miles to the more challenging 6 miles for keen enthusiasts.
Walkers can either take circular trails beginning and finishing at their train station, or take linear routes to the next one. Each guide book contains all the necessary maps, along with useful information of how long the walks should take and suggestions where to stop for refreshments.
Those wishing not to walk can still purchase full price rover tickets and the usual train timetable will be operating over the weekend, details of which are on their website. Free copies of the 'Railtrails' guide book will still be available after the event but the 25% discount is for this weekend only.
Tenterden and Northiam are situated on the A28 between Ashford and Hastings and both stations have spacious car parks which are free all day for visitors or you can choose to park at Bodiam Castle car park for £2.
