Annual CAMRA Real Ale & Cider Festival - Saturday 16 June

This popular social event takes place between 11:00am and 10:30pm (or until the beer runs out!) and is organised with the Ashford, Folkestone and Romney Marsh Branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. Try a diverse range of some of the finest Ale, Cider and Perry in the exclusive beer tent, or relaxing and listening to an eclectic mix of live music.

The Kent & East Sussex Railway is running an appeal to raise £200,000 to double the capacity of the main carriage maintenance building at Tenterden station. The expansion is needed to provide sufficient high quality trains to operate the current train time table which carries 90,000 passengers annually.

Thomas the Tank Engine author to attend
Thomas Event at the
Kent & East Sussex Railway

The author best known for his contributions to The Railway Series of books featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, Christopher Awdry, will be coming along to sign his books on Sunday 18 September at Tenterden Station.

Christopher Awdry is in many ways responsible for the creation of Thomas and his railway, which started as a story told to him by his father during a bout of measles in 1942. By the time of his father's death in 1997, Christopher had added a further 14 books to the series, as well as writing stories for several Thomas the Tank Engine Friends annuals.

The author wrote a new book for the series in 2007 titled Thomas and Victoria and this year book no 42 was released in July titled Thomas and his Friends.

Families can come along to meet the author who will also be delighted to sign children's Thomas books.

The Days Out with Thomas September events will take place on 17 - 18 September and 24 - 25 September 2011.
