Cavell Van Restoration Appeal

We need to raise £35,000 to restore the van in time for the National Service of Remembrance on 11 November 2010. The ‘Cavell Van’, built in 1919, is important in the railway preservation movement for being the prototype of a class of vans used for mail and luggage on express passenger trains from the 1920s. The Great K&ESR Gala Weekend 1st - 3rd May

The K&ESR May Gala is now an established "must visit" for railway enthusiasts from all over the country. In addition to seeing K&ESR's own locomotive "Charwelton" in traffic following its recent overhaul, K&ESR is pleased to announce that Llangollen Railway's BR Standard Class 4 locomotive – no. 80072 will be visiting.

Provisional Details

Thomas the Tank Engine will be visiting Tenterden Town Station and bringing some of his friends along with him too. 'Sir Topham Hatt, The Fat Controller' will also be there making sure that everybody behaves themselves.

There will be plenty happening all day to keep everybody entertained!

Your ticket includes:

TRAIN TIMES

Trains depart Tenterden Town Station at the following times for a one-hour return trip:
10.25am - 11.05am - 11.45am - 12.25pm - 1.05pm - 1.45pm - 2.25pm - 3.05*

Trains depart promptly so please make sure that you arrive at least 45 minutes before departure. No refund will be given for missed trains. Seats on later trains cannot be guaranteed and will be subject to an administration charge of £2 per person.

TEATIME WITH DAISY

*The 3:05pm departure on Saturday 13th and 20th will be A TeaTime Trip with Daisy. The ticket price for this activity is slightly more for children as they each receive a snack box of food and drink to enjoy during the one-hour train ride on Daisy. Priced at £12.50 this includes all the activities listed as being incuded, the return train fare on Daisy and the snack box. A First Class option is available and is priced as below.

Babes in arms (under 18 months) are carried free of charge, providing they do not occupy a seat.

SPECIAL NEEDS

Visitors with disabilities.
If you require priority parking and hold a blue badge please either see a member of staff upon arrival at Tenterden Station or make your way to the railway car park where spaces are designated for blue badge holder's use. By all means feel free to drop any passengers off at the station itself before parking the car.

Facilities for the Disabled - All our facilities have been carefully designed with disabled and elderly passengers in mind. There are toilets for the disabled at Tenterden, Northiam and Bodiam. There is full wheelchair access to the shop and refreshment rooms at Tenterden Town, and the Colonel Stephens Railway Museum has level access with 42" aisles. The Tenterden ticket office is fitted with an induction loop.
