Cavell Van Restoration Appeal

image

We need to raise £35,000 to restore the van in time for the National Service of Remembrance on 11 November 2010. The ‘Cavell Van’, built in 1919, is important in the railway preservation movement for being the prototype of a class of vans used for mail and luggage on express passenger trains from the 1920s. All Aboard with Ivor
25th & 26th July

For the second year running we have heard from Dai Station that Ivor the Engine and many of the characters including Jones the Steam, Mrs Porty, PC Gregory and even Idris the Dragon are making the long trek from the top left-hand corner of Wales to visit the K&ESR for a weekend of fun activities.

The famous little Welsh engine Ivor is coming to the Kent & East Sussex Railway on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July. Fond childhood memories can be re-lived over two fun-filled days of activities for children of all ages. All aboard a 5-inch gauge live steam model railway, giant garden games, puppet and magic shows, face painters, 1950s penny slot machines, bouncy castle and colouring activities, plus the chance to meet the memorable characters that populated the Ivor stories. Jones the Steam, Dai Station, Evans the Song, Mrs Porty and Idris the Dragon who will help to light Ivor's boiler will all be making the journey from ‘the top left-hand corner of Wales'.

All visitors will be able to ride behind Ivor himself to make this an event to remember.

Enjoy the sounds of a brass band concert on Sunday!
