Nº. 76 - (CCT) Nº. 1745

One of a batch of vans constructed in 1938. As well as two pairs of side doors it has double doors at each end for end loading. Initially designated as a General Utility Van it was later classified as a Covered Carriage Truck (CCT). After withdrawal by BR, Nº. 76 arrived at Rolvenden in March 1982 for use as a Locomotive Department store. It was acquired by Carriage & Wagon volunteers in 1999 and moved to Tenterden where its role as a stores van continued, this time for C&W Department. The Friends of Vintage Carriages (C&W staff support group) intends to preserve Nº. 76 and Nº. 79 (see below) in original condition as the type is becoming increasingly rare.
